To encourage students’ abilities to reason and solve math and science problems, SAMSEC is providing quarterly challenges drawn from interesting situations in San Antonio. In this challenge, students must draw pictures of a healthy day’s meals, including a breakfast, lunch, snack, and dinner. Determine what some combinations of lunches might be that you could choose, be sure to include one item from each food group.
Local businesses and organizations can provide specific examples and a context for math and science teachers to help answer the student's question: "When will I ever use this?" SAMSEC helps organize small "show-and-tell" lunches where organizations can invite about a dozen math and science teachers for a lunch and an overview of how math and science can be used in various setting.
